Not every day can be a sunny day. Life is filled with many sorrows and hardships. As an artist who lives with depression, amongst many other disabilities, I wanted to create a painting that embraces an emotion most people typically suppress and shy away from expressing (sadness). This piece serves as a reminder that we do not need to mask how we are feeling. We can show up as our authentic selves as we trudge through the cloudy days. Until the clouds part and we can begin to see the sun again, may we keep holding on, clinging to hope.
